Yoda the Python

The boys and I hit up the Lincoln Zoo again this morning. We've walked past the bug trailer each time we've gone this season, but haven't yet gone inside. Usually by the time we make it over to the trailer, the boys are pretty worn out from all the walking they've done that my main focus is just getting us out of the zoo (which is another long walk in itself). Today I asked them if they wanted to see any bugs and Nolan immediately said, "Yes!" We went inside and looked at several different cages where we found millipedes, tarantulas, and geckos. We then got to a cage labeled, "Python." And in case you didn't know, Nolan loves snakes. I asked Nolan if he could try and find it when a worker came up to us and said that we could actually pet the python if we wanted because he was out of his cage and another worker was holding him. We walked over to the lady and Nolan began the petting right away! Believe it or not, I even gave the guy a few strokes to show Carson that he was a nice snake and wasn't scary. It's so interesting because Nolan is all over the chance to hold bugs and pet snakes, whereas Carson would rather just stand (far) back and watch. I asked him if he wanted to pet the snake and his answer was, "Mommy pet snake." Haha.

The lady then told Nolan that the snake's name was "Yoda" and Nolan responded with, "That's a good name for him." Nolan then told her, "I'm a brave boy. I like monsters." And I said to him, "Thank you for being so gentle to the snake, Nolan." And he responded with, "Mom, I'm not squeezing him!" And I can't believe I forgot to take pictures of this!! I was so focused on Carson and trying to listen to everything Nolan was saying that it didn't even occur to me to take pictures. I realized this as we were leaving the trailer. Oh well, the season just started.
