A Long, Long Day

The boys and I have been within the walls of this house since Friday evening and we're all going a little nutty. Nolan just wants to get outside so badly he's already been talking about summer for the last couple of days. He's been telling us that this summer he's going to be outside a lot...and it's almost with a tone that says, "And you and dad can't do anything about it!" I think he's reassuring himself that eventually this snow will melt and there will be bright days of summer in his future. All four of us are definitely looking forward to some warmer weather, that's for sure.

Today was a struggle to get through. I was without Noah's companionship, so coming up with fun ideas was all up to me. And it still wasn't safe enough for us to get out and drive. It's days like today I realize how thankful I am for free events like storytimes and McDonald's playcenters (and for the weather that makes it possible for us to get there!). We already had the play-doh out and rolling by 9:00 this morning. It held the boys' interest for about 30 minutes and then they were done. Later in the morning we did a Valentine's potato painting (an activity from my "Busy Toddlers" book) and interest in that lasted seriously all of 7 minutes. In fact, Nolan turned it into a game of sorting regular old potatoes (see the pictures).

Now, I just want to go to bed. Sorry this is such a late post, but there just wasn't much going on today. Very thankful and relieved that Noah made it home safely. Hopefully tomorrow we can get out of this house!!

Reading "Wonder Pets" stuff.

"Help?" Carson wanting me to get the paint off his fingers.

Nolan wiping the paint onto his shirt (Both boys don't really like getting their fingers dirty).

Potato-press!

War-paint.

Nolan making little "animal tracks" on his valentine.

"Mom, open it WIDE!"  Nolan instructed.

Counting potatoes.
